A Needy Wilmington started with a simple idea: no one in our community should have to struggle alone. We’re a volunteer-run nonprofit helping local families get essentials like food, clothing, school supplies, and support for education. We know asking for help can feel uncomfortable that’s why we focus on compassion, dignity, and meeting people where they are.
Our work goes beyond just meeting basic needs; we want to open doors to opportunity, confidence, and a better future. Everything we do is powered by sweat equity, not salaries just neighbors helping neighbors. During COVID, we stepped up when things got tough, and we’ve kept going because the need hasn’t stopped.
We believe Wilmington is stronger when we lift each other up and there’s always room for one more person to help make that happen.

Our mission is to restore dignity, build confidence, and help individuals and families break the cycle of poverty.
