"Don’t Forget Where You Came From"

ree

It’s kind of funny how easy it is to forget that we were once in the same place. Starting out. Trying to figure things out. Hungry to build something meaningful.

And yet, when we try to connect with others, some don’t see collaboration they see competition. They act like only one person can have a good idea at a time.

Somewhere along the way, we forgot: more than one voice can matter. More than one path can lead forward.

It’s even harder when you’ve stood in the same space or pushed farther than those now sitting at the top. Because popularity, money, or status has a way of clouding memory.

They forget what it felt like to be unknown. They forget that once upon a time, they were just hoping someone would open a door.

And instead of lifting others, they close it behind them. They hold onto their seat at the table, and call it progress.

But I’ll say this: When you keep shutting that door, you stop new ideas from entering. You stop growth. You stop change.

So once in a while, crack that door open. Lift someone else up. Let someone speak, take the lead for the very first time.

You might just be surprised what fresh light sounds like.
